Left of Us was opened on March 1, 2007 after the Axel/Roxas fanlisting was generously given to me by Kira and Gaki of the protege-moi network. Being a huge supporter of the characters and their relationship, I had wanted the fanlisting for some time and had even considered doing a shrine beforehand. Accepting the listing was sort of the perfect incentive to build the site and add it to my collective.
The Name
The title Left of Us came about after several days of (I admit) rather frantically searching for the perfect name. I went through game quotes, rewatched the fmv scenes, and hassled a friend or two and couldn't come up with anything that hadn't been used or wasn't painfully emo or cheesy. Finally, even my layout graphics were finished save for a title, and the song Believer by the band Kill Hannah came on. Granted, the whole song isn't a perfect fit, but the lines that stood out provided enough inspiration that I decided to run with it.
And I'm not running anymore.

The Reasons
I'll keep this part as short as I can since I really will tend to go on and on. Why this site? Because I fell in love with Roxas immediately and, though I adore Sora, I spent the entire game after he was gone wanting him back. Because I'm convinced Axel really is Reno and Zack's lovechild. Because of Roxas' big blue eyes. Because of the crayon drawings. Because of Axel's face when he thought Roxas remembered. Because of "got it memorized". Because I cried and because it just wasn't fair. Because emo kids with checkered wristbands make me grin like an idiot. I love Axel and Roxas and I love the relationship between them, whether they were just best friends with bad luck or whether they were something more between the lines. Really, it had to be done.
