The last member of Organization XIII- lucky number XIII, "The Key of Destiny"- is Roxas. In charge of the Samurai Nobodies and able to harness the power of light and wield keyblades, Roxas is the most recent addition and the youngest member of the Organization.
He's a perfectly normal teenage boy. He hangs out with his friends, he has to do homework, he does odd jobs in town to afford a day-trip to the beach. This is how we first perceive Roxas for the first several hours of Kingdom Hearts II. Unfortunately for him, once his summer vacation begins to come to a close, so does his seemingly peaceful life, as things start to get a little weird and more questions than answers seem to come up for him. From here, Roxas sets out to search for truth about himself and validation for his own existence.
His Search
Like Axel and the rest of Organization XIII, Roxas is a nobody. His name is an anagram for his 'other', "Roxas" spelling "Sora" when the x is removed and the letters rearranged. He was created at the end of Kingdom Hearts when Sora turned his keyblade on himself and became a heartless to rescue Kairi's heart. When Roxas joined Organization XIII, there were two main things that set him apart. First, unlike the other nobodies, he has no recollection of his previous life. Second, he was able to harness the power of light and brandish the keyblade, a mysterious weapon that no one else has even been able to touch, making him an incredibly valuable asset to the Organization. Because he was different and because of the keyblade phenomenon, Roxas goes searching for answers.
"...Sora's Nobody, "Roxas", has lost the memories of when he was Sora.
The reason for this may be that Sora spent little time as a Heartless while
Roxas was left behind as a Nobody, and returned to becoming a human with a
heart.."

Roxas' quest leads him to an encounter with Riku, whom he defeats once time but is beaten a second time, once Riku has gained the powers of darkness. After this, Roxas is placed into a Matrix-like simulation world, the alternate dimension of Twilight Town where he has no memories whatsoever of the Organization, that was created by DiZ to keep Roxas from interfering while Sora's memories are restored so that Roxas and Sora can be fused once again.
As Sora's memories return, Roxas breaks through the fictional shield around him and finds out that he is a nobody, he has no heart, and that he shouldn't even exist. However, at least he finds his answers.
