personality

Aerith possessed one of those wonderful personalities that would definitely make you want to be a better person. She was friendly, sharing, thoughtful, smart, and most of all, she was compassionate.

What better person could have Cloud had for a friend then Aerith? Her strength and positive attitude got the party through a fair amount of their bad times, even when she was dead. After her death, when they were in the toughest of moments, they would remember Aerith and her strength, and become strong as well. Her memory filled them with hope that their world one day be in peace and everyone could live in harmony without having to worry, with the thought that maybe, just maybe, she played a role in it. If only more people could be like her; for she was always friendly towards the whole group, regardless of everyone's different appearance, past, mood, and personality. She accepted everyone for who they were, and trust me, they were a weird bunch. Many times she showed her gentle and forgiving nature; When Barret was thoroughly disgruntled after coming back to his home town and being cruelly rejected by the people he once called neighbours, Aerith tried her best to comfort him and cheer him up, but made no prevail. Nonetheless, she was patient with him and tried to keep his spirits up. When Red XIII pretended to "attack" her, she must have been taken aback, but she forgave him afterwards and understood why he had to do what he did. Another time was when Could was being controlled by Sephiroth and he was made to beat up Aerith, she appeared to him in a dream afterwards and told him that she forgave him, and understood him. She had a very good understanding for things, and never prejudged people before she got to know them. Her and Tifa didn't start off so good, but it didn't mean that they never became friends. I believe they were very close friends. It all came down to it in the end, they had the same motives, hopes, and dreams. All they wanted was peace for the world.

I wouldn't be so sure as to say that Aerith "shared" Cloud, because no one really knows where his heart was. Aerith was humble and never took the chance to gloat after she did something noble or good. She did all she could for Marlene after the whole explosion and pretty much risked her life for the little girl. Not many people would do that, unless they knew they would get something out of it.

Let me say this, Aerith was no dummie. I think she often knew exactly what she was doing, yet always tried to stay in good humour (ie- threatening to cut off Don Corneo's ding- dongs). She knew more about the past of the Cetra then she let on. Her focus and knowledge that she demonstrated in the TOA was phenomenal, and was something that not many people would have been able to do. Her friends made her strong, thus giving her the courage to go on and finish her task. She had serious side that her friends rarely saw, perhaps even the person playing the game. It was hard to catch, and barley discernable; this, maybe is why most people thought she was a real damsel, in which where she always thought she could handle things on her own, but would always end up being saved in the end. I believe this to be very true, but not the way you may think. Yes Aerith needed to be saved on occasions, on several occasions actually, but I think it's quite obvious that her intention was never to be saved all the time. Everyone wants to strive to be independent - unfortunately, not all of us have big muscles like Barret or Cloud- sometimes it just goes that way. Aerith tried her best, but didn't always succeed, which made her no more and no less then the wonderful human she was.

Aerith's compassionate nature also made her character so great. She expressed a deep sense of empathy toward her comrades and tried to aid them in as many ways as she could. Sometimes her intentions might have been misunderstood or overlooked, but all she really wanted to do was be involved and help as much as she could.

I don't really know if self sacrifice is on the personality list, but it sure is on mine. Aerith died in hope to save all her friends and the planet. I don't think she wanted this with the thought in mind that she would become some martyr; she knew that if she didn't act fast, Cloud would be lost, and Holy would never come. Or maybe, she never knew her death would come, but she was willing to take a chance, whether she got hurt in the process or not.

Aerith's personality being the way it was, was what made her character so interesting. The mystery of her past, and the mere mystery of her life kept me on the edge of my seat. Her heart warming lines, and cute gestures are securely fit to make someone wonder or even know that there really can be that great of people out there- they are very special yet very hard to find.
